Six-Drawer Dresser of English Oak
This highly functional dresser is loaded with all of the features that define extremely decadent furniture. They are however, purposefully fused into the construction in such a way that not one of them overwhelms the piece as a whole. An entire cabinet made of solid English oak, with ever-so-slightly tapered sides that literally crest through the top and bottom. Quarter-sawn oak drawer boxes provide maximum stability, are hand-dovetailed, and feature Cedar of Lebanon bottoms for a wonderful aroma each time a drawer is opened. The top two drawers are sectioned by lovely Rosewood partitions.
Unless you put them there, your socks won’t end up in the bottom drawer, because each drawer is separated from the one below it by a dust panel. Dust panels in dressers are old school. If you do find them in today’s furniture, they’re most often going to be made of thin, unfinished plywood or even glorified cardboard. The panels in this dresser are constructed of solid oak which has acquired a rich chocolate color through a process known as fuming.
Who says you’ll push a piece like this up against a wall? That is why even its back is beautifully constructed in solid frame and panel oak, which is held in place with perfectly fitted solid brass screws.
The warmth of the oak emanates through several hand-rubbed coats of tongue oil and is polished to a soft sheen with natural beeswax.
