Black and Tan Table

This table was commissioned by Nancy Winter for the dining area in her rural, yet modern home outside of Madison, WI. Wanting the table to announce itself firmly, I decided to fashion the base from American Black Walnut, a decidedly dark, rich, espresso-toned wood. Given the lower than usual ceiling height of the room, and thinking that too much walnut might visually consume the space, I opted for the warm, honey-color of Brown Hard Maple for the table top. The resulting effect of these two woods together, both sustainably harvested from Iowa and Wisconsin, is simultaneously striking and harmonious.

Features:

  • Solid Hardwood throughout (American Black Walnut and Brown Hard Maple).
  • Exposed, through-mortise and tenon joinery in table base.
  • Gracefully tapered, arched legs on the table. This detail is repeated in the edges of the table’s top.
  • Hand rubbed satin polyurethane finish for beauty and durability.
  • Table, overall size: 42″ long x 42″ wide x 30″ high.

The cost for the Black and Tan table, as shown, is $3600 plus applicable tax and delivery.  This table, like most Redwine Bespoke pieces, may be custom designed in different wood species and/or with different dimensions and features to fit your environment perfectly.  Contact me to discuss details.
